Delhi's Green Leap: India's First E-waste Eco Park

The Delhi government has unveiled plans to establish India’s first dedicated e-waste eco park in Holambi Kalan, backed by an estimated investment of ₹150 crore. The project will be implemented by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), with a global tender in the final stages of preparation.

Environment and Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated that the government is studying successful international models, including those in Norway and Hong Kong, to ensure the facility adheres to the highest global environmental standards.

Spread across 11.4 acres, the eco park is designed to process over 51,000 metric tonnes of e-waste annually. It will feature advanced scientific dismantling systems, rare earth and precious metal recovery units, and real-time pollution control technologies. The facility will conform to ISO 9000, EN 50625, CENELEC, CPCB, and MoEFCC standards.

In addition to its environmental focus, the project aims to integrate informal e-waste workers into the formal economy through structured training programs. A dense tree canopy will envelop the site, reinforcing its eco-conscious design.

Expected to generate over ₹350 crore in economic output and create thousands of green jobs, the e-waste eco park represents a significant step toward sustainable urban development and circular economy goals in India.
