The Kerala government has sanctioned ₹70 crore to the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) for land acquisition as part of the Kochi-Palakkad Hi-Tech Industrial Corridor—an important segment of the Kochi-Bangalore Industrial Corridor (KBIC).
The sanctioned amount will be used to repay a loan provided by the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). The broader KBIC project spans 2,060 acres in Kerala and includes two key development nodes: the Industrial Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Palakkad and the proposed Global City in Ayyampuzha, Ernakulam. The Global City, formerly known as Gift City, will be developed on 350 acres and is currently awaiting Central government approval.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had previously approved the Palakkad IMC under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP). Earlier, KINFRA had requested ₹200 crore for land acquisition in the 2025–26 financial year. The total cost of the Kochi-Palakkad Hi-Tech Corridor project stands at ₹2,608 crore, including provisions for repaying KIIFB loans.
The ₹70 crore now released is subject to specific conditions outlined in the official order, marking a key step toward accelerating infrastructure development along the corridor.
