Mundra Port, the flagship of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), has made history by becoming the first Indian port to handle 200 million tonnes (MT) of cargo in a single financial year. For FY25, the port reached a record 200.7 MT, marking an 11.5% increase compared to the 180 MT handled in FY24.
As India’s largest private port operator, APSEZ manages a network of 15 ports and terminals along the coastline, with a combined cargo handling capacity of 627 MT per year. In total, APSEZ processed 450.2 MT of cargo in FY25, a 7.19% growth from the 420 MT handled in FY24. This surge in cargo volumes was largely driven by a 20% year-on-year increase in container traffic and a 9% rise in liquid and gas cargo. Moreover, logistics rail volume at Mundra reached 0.64 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), reflecting an 8% year-on-year growth.
Mundra Port has developed into a fully operational commercial hub under a 30-year concession agreement with the Gujarat Maritime Board. Its strategic location makes it a vital gateway for India’s Western, Central, and Northern regions, including the National Capital Region, Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.
