New Pink Line Stretch Aims for September Amid Access Concerns

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) is targeting a September opening for the seven-kilometer elevated stretch of the Pink Line, spanning from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere along Bannerghatta Road, following previous delays.

Despite the upcoming launch, inadequate pedestrian infrastructure along the corridor presents a significant hurdle for incoming passenger operations. Residents living in Gottigere, Kalena Agrahara, and neighborhoods past NICE Road are expected to depend heavily on the Kalena Agrahara station, yet local access roads remain in substandard condition.

Meanwhile, the multi-level Jayadeva station is set to become Bengaluru's third Metro interchange, linking the Yellow and Pink Lines. Currently partially operational for the Yellow Line, the six-level facility will provide full interchange capabilities once the Pink Line opens, alongside its structural integration with the city's double-decker flyover.
