PepsiCo is set to establish a manufacturing plant in Mannapparai, Tamil Nadu, on a 28-acre site within the SIPCOT industrial park. The new facility will produce a range of snack products, including potato chips, as part of PepsiCo India’s strategy to expand its snack manufacturing capacity.
Mannapparai, renowned for its traditional 'murukku', is being developed by the Tamil Nadu government into a major food hub. In 2023, PepsiCo also announced plans for a Rs 778 crore plant in Assam, which is expected to begin operations by 2025 or early 2026. Furthermore, the company has invested in the expansion of one of its largest greenfield food plants in Uttar Pradesh.
Mannapparai will also become home to JABIL, a leading supplier to global tech giants like Apple, Cisco, and HP, which is investing Rs 2,000 crore to set up an electronics manufacturing facility. This project follows an MoU signed with the state government in September 2024.
