ACME's Green Giant: 400K Tonnes of Ammonia in Odisha

ACME Group will set up a green hydrogen-based ammonia production facility with an annual capacity of 400,000 tonnes at the Tata Steel Special Economic Zone (Tata SEZ) in Gopalpur, Odisha. The announcement was made during the Groundbreaking and Inauguration Ceremony for five industrial projects at the Gopalpur Industrial Estate, attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, senior government officials, and ACME executives.

Slated to begin supply in 2029, the project is backed by a long-term export agreement with a Japanese corporation and aligns with Japan’s Net Zero ambitions. It is a key component of ACME’s global strategy to accelerate the adoption of green hydrogen and ammonia in hard-to-abate industrial sectors.

The initiative supports India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and aims to contribute to industrial decarbonisation through clean fuel alternatives. It is also expected to generate over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, enhancing Odisha’s position in the clean energy value chain.

“The Gopalpur facility will be pivotal in advancing India’s energy transition and strengthening international green energy supply chains,” the company said.
