Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting with P. Dorje Gyamba, Chairman of the Godavari River Management Board, at the Chief Minister’s camp office to discuss water conservation and efficient river management strategies.
During the discussions, the Chief Minister highlighted the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen river basin management, including the use of real-time monitoring systems through the AWARE platform. He also outlined plans for optimal utilisation of floodwaters and broader river-linking initiatives aimed at improving water distribution and ensuring long-term sustainability.
A key issue addressed was the Pedda Vagu project on the Andhra Pradesh–Telangana border in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, where breaches in the bund during the previous monsoon season led to flooding and disruption in both states. The Chief Minister assured full cooperation with Telangana to jointly reinforce the bund and mitigate future flood risks.
The meeting underscored the importance of inter-state coordination in managing shared water resources and highlighted the need for proactive planning to protect flood-prone communities. It also emphasised the role of integrated river management systems and resilient infrastructure in ensuring long-term regional water security through collaborative governance.
