Kavach Deployment: Kernex Wins ₹67.53 Cr PLW Order

Kernex Microsystems (India) has secured an order valued at ₹67.53 crore (including GST) from Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW), a unit of Indian Railways, for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of onboard Kavach locomotive equipment.

The contract involves the deployment of advanced railway safety systems aimed at enhancing operational reliability and preventing collisions across the Indian Railways network. The scope includes implementing Kavach technology in locomotives in compliance with RDSO Specification No. RDSO/SPN/196/2020 (Version 4.0) or its latest revisions.

Kavach, India’s indigenously developed train protection system, plays a crucial role in improving signalling accuracy and minimizing human error in train operations. The project forms part of the broader effort to strengthen railway safety through technology-driven solutions.

This order reinforces Kernex Microsystems’ position in the railway safety and signalling segment, while supporting the national push to modernise rail infrastructure through the phased deployment of indigenous systems like Kavach across key railway corridors.
