With an Indian expatriate population exceeding 9 million across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), ensuring access to essential food supplies remains a key priority. Addressing this need, Lulu Group International has shipped over 8,000 tonnes of food products from India to GCC countries in the past two weeks, helping stabilise supply chains and support the community.
The company coordinated closely with government authorities, international airlines, and logistics partners to operate 17 special chartered cargo flights, alongside regular vessel shipments. A wide range of essential items—including fruits and vegetables, rice, eggs, meat, and other staples—were sourced from various parts of India, with the majority of air cargo dispatched from Kochi and Delhi.
Of the total volume, more than 5,000 tonnes of fresh perishables were delivered to the United Arab Emirates through dedicated cargo operations. In collaboration with Etihad Airways, over 10 chartered flights were deployed, supported by sea shipments and repatriation flights, ensuring a consistent and uninterrupted supply of essential food items and fresh produce.
