Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri met David Eby, Premier of Canada’s British Columbia province, on 13 January 2026 to discuss cooperation in LNG projects, green hydrogen development, LPG imports, and critical minerals.
During the meeting, Minister Puri underscored the strengthening India–Canada partnership, particularly in the areas of energy security and environmental sustainability. Premier Eby is leading a trade mission to India and is scheduled to engage with key stakeholders in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Bengaluru. The mission seeks to promote British Columbia’s business capabilities and sustainable products, while also supporting economic diversification amid U.S. tariff challenges.
The discussions build on growing hydrocarbon trade between India and Canada, which has seen notable expansion in recent years. Further opportunities for collaboration were highlighted during earlier interactions between Minister Puri and Canada’s International Trade Minister, Maninder Sidhu.
