Skydeck Dream Nears Reality for Bengaluru

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who also oversees Bengaluru Development, inspected the proposed site for a 250-meter skydeck in Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout on June 3, 2025. He was accompanied by MLA ST Somashekhar, BDA Commissioner Manivannan, and other senior officials.

Slated to be the tallest skydeck in South Asia, the project is a key component of the "Brand Bengaluru" initiative and is estimated to cost ₹500 crore. It will be developed on 68 acres of land in the seventh block of the layout, strategically located between Mysuru Road and Magadi Road in Kommaghatta.

The Deputy CM is expected to take a decision soon on whether the project will be executed by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) or the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA). He also announced that this year’s Kempe Gowda Jayanti celebrations will be held at the layout, where a museum and railway station are also planned.

According to officials, the skydeck will be nearly three times taller than Delhi’s Qutub Minar and offer a 360-degree panoramic view of Bengaluru.
