The Haryana government has approved infrastructure projects worth ₹141 crore for Gurugram, including the long-pending Phase 2 of the citywide CCTV surveillance and adaptive traffic management system.
Nearly three years after completing Phase 1 — which involved installing 1,200 cameras at 218 locations — the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has received the go-ahead to implement Phase 2. This phase will add 2,722 cameras across 258 new locations.
Sanctioned by the High-Powered Purchase Committee (HPPC), chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the ₹109 crore surveillance upgrade aims to improve real-time monitoring, traffic regulation, and public safety. GMDA will begin work upon issuing work orders.
In addition to the surveillance expansion, two other projects were approved during the HPPC meeting:
Power Infrastructure: A ₹17.3 crore, 66 kV substation will be built at the Chandu Budhera Water Treatment Plant to power three filtration units. While completion is expected within 12 months, temporary power arrangements will maintain operations in the meantime.
Non-Motorised Transport Corridor: A ₹14.7 crore project will develop a four-kilometre cycle track and footpath along Sectors 58–61 and 59–61 near Golf Course Extension Road. The project, aimed at promoting sustainable transport, is scheduled for completion in nine months.
