Sami-Sabinsa’s $15M Leap Forward in Herbal Tech

On 5 December 2025, the Sami-Sabinsa Group inaugurated a new herbal products and ingredients manufacturing facility at the Pharma SEZ Industrial Area in Hassan, Karnataka.

This facility marks the group’s second unit in Hassan, following the establishment of Hassan Unit-1 in 2020, which manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients. Designated as Hassan Unit-2, it is the group’s ninth manufacturing facility overall. Spread across 15 acres, the environmentally sustainable, zero liquid discharge unit complies with cGMP standards and is equipped with advanced utilities such as modern vacuum systems, boilers, and 100 per cent power backup. The facility is expected to generate approximately 250 employment opportunities in the region and includes provisions for future expansion.

The project represents an investment of USD 15 million and is expected to strengthen Sami-Sabinsa’s export capabilities and support revenue growth. Commenting on the development, Anju Majeed, PhD, Executive Group Chairperson, said that the new facility will enhance the company’s ability to serve global customers with both patented and off-patent herbal products.
