Powering the Future: Maruti Suzuki’s New 1 MWh BESS

Maruti Suzuki is doubling down on green manufacturing with a new 1 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at its Kharkhoda facility in Haryana. By storing surplus power during low-demand windows, the BESS maximizes the utility of the plant’s existing 20 MWp solar infrastructure and strengthens grid reliability. The pilot project is a key piece of MSIL’s strategy to tackle Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. "With a lifecycle of about 15 years, BESS will help to reduce nearly 54 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually," said Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of MSIL.
