Industry and Commerce Minister Sanjeev Arora has unveiled a ₹100-crore infrastructure and policy initiative aimed at strengthening Punjab’s industrial ecosystem, with Ludhiana positioned as the central driver of growth.
The Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) has allocated the funds for infrastructure upgrades across key industrial focal points. Of this, tenders worth ₹70 crore have already been floated, with the remaining ₹30 crore in the pipeline. In addition, Ludhiana’s Municipal Corporation will invest ₹55 crore to boost connectivity, upgrade basic facilities, and enhance industrial support systems.
A major highlight of the initiative is the development of three world-class exhibition centres in Ludhiana, Amritsar, and Mohali, designed to host trade fairs, industrial expos, and innovation showcases. “Land has been identified for the Mohali centre, while suitable sites in Ludhiana and Amritsar are currently being finalised,” Minister Arora noted.
To ensure efficient maintenance of infrastructure, the state will also establish an independent authority to manage industrial estates and focal points—focusing on critical services such as road maintenance, lighting, and sewerage systems.
