IIT Tirupati & UNSW Sydney Partner for Solar Excellence

In a major boost to India's clean energy goals, IIT Tirupati has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNSW Sydney and the Centre of Excellence for Energy Transition (CoEET), Visakhapatnam. The collaboration aims to explore establishing a Centre of Excellence in Solar Manufacturing (CoESM) at IIT Tirupati.

Signed in Amaravati in the presence of Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, the agreement focuses on advancing solar photovoltaic manufacturing, circular economy practices, recycling, and industry-oriented research. CoEET—backed by state power utilities APDISCOMs, APGENCO, and APTRANSCO—will facilitate administrative coordination, government relations, and funding strategies to build a robust solar technology ecosystem in the region.
