GRSE x K2 Cranes: A New Era for Indian Marine Engineering

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with K2 Cranes & Components on January 28, 2026, to jointly design, develop, and manufacture marine, defence, and shipyard cranes, along with related equipment.

The MoU was signed by Commodore Ramesh Menon MS (Retd), Chief General Manager at GRSE, and M. Udayakumar, Managing Director of K2 Cranes, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations, including GRSE Chairman Commodore P.R. Hari and Director (Shipbuilding) Commodore Shantanu Bose. Products developed under this collaboration are expected to reduce India’s dependence on imports while catering to both domestic and international markets.

GRSE’s strong manufacturing credentials—highlighted by its delivery of more than 5,900 modular steel bridges worldwide—underscore its capability in producing high-quality, indigenously developed solutions. The partnership marks another step toward strengthening India’s self-reliance in strategic manufacturing.

This collaboration aligns with GRSE’s continued efforts to support the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ initiative.
