From Rails to Tech: PM Modi's ₹7,000 Crore Push Transforms Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth over ₹7,000 crore in Motihari, Bihar, aimed at significantly strengthening the state’s rail, road, and technology infrastructure.  

Railway sector

In a major boost to rail connectivity, the Prime Minister:

Dedicated the automatic signalling system between Samastipur and Bachhwara

Inaugurated the doubling of rail lines on the Darbhanga–Thalwara and Samastipur–Rambhadrapur sections

These initiatives form part of the larger Darbhanga–Samastipur railway project, valued at over ₹580 crore.
He also laid the foundation stone for the Darbhanga–Narkatiaganj rail line doubling project, a strategic initiative to enhance rail infrastructure in North Bihar, with an estimated investment of ₹4,080 crore. 

Road Infrastructure

In the highways sector, PM Modi:

Laid the foundation stone for the four-laning of the Ara Bypass (NH-319)

Inaugurated the Parariya–Mohania four-lane section of NH-319, constructed at a cost of over ₹820 crore

These road projects are expected to improve regional connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and facilitate smoother freight and passenger movement.

Technology initiatives

The Prime Minister also inaugurated Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) centres in Darbhanga and Patna, aimed at promoting Bihar’s digital and innovation-driven growth.

“These facilities will boost IT exports, foster innovation, and support startups across Bihar,” PM Modi said.
