India is drafting the Automotive Mission Plan (AMP) 2047, a long-term roadmap to shape the future of the country’s automotive sector through phase-wise milestones for 2030, 2037, and 2047.
The plan is being developed with inputs from seven expert sub-committees, comprising representatives from government, industry, and academia. These groups are tasked with consolidating insights to create a unified vision involving OEMs, auto component manufacturers, policymakers, academic institutions, and end-users.
AMP 2047 will address key priorities such as technological innovation, charging and alternative fuel infrastructure, and the transition to sustainable mobility.
According to an official statement, the sub-committees will present their recommendations to an apex committee chaired by Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) Secretary Kamran Rizvi. The final plan aims to position India as a globally competitive and sustainable automotive hub by 2047, marking 100 years of independence.
