The Tamil Nadu Highways Department has proposed 132 infrastructure works under the Comprehensive Road Infrastructure Development Programme (CRIDP) 2025–26, with a total investment of ₹561.50 crore.
Covering 230.68 km across Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu districts, the projects include road widening, stormwater drain construction, and culvert upgrades. Key improvements by district include:
Tiruvallur: 76.66 km, Chengalpattu: 31.2 km, Kancheepuram: 22.1 km, Chennai: ~9 km
Notable works include the Naidu Kuppam–Edumadurai Road expansion in Tiruvallur (₹1.68 crore) and construction of seven culverts and bridges (₹90.30 crore) to address chronic flooding. Permanent flood restoration includes macro drain works on the Pallavaram–Thoraipakkam Road (1.6 km) and OMR–ECR stretch (800 m), with a combined budget of ₹26.20 crore.
Tenders have been floated, and additional initiatives include riding quality upgrades on roads such as Maddur–Alamelumangapuram and NN Kandigai–Nalattur, junction improvements on the Sadras–Tiruttani Road, and strengthening works on the Tiruvottiyur–Ponneri–Panchetty Road.
Officials stated the program aims to ensure smoother traffic flow and enhance long-term flood resilience across key corridors.
