The Karnataka State Cabinet has approved a ₹2,215-crore project to construct a short tunnel–elevated corridor linking Hebbal Junction and Mehkri Circle.
Distinct from the ongoing Hebbal–Silk Board twin-tunnel project, this new corridor is aimed at easing congestion in Ganganagar, Sanjay Nagar, and RT Nagar—areas not covered by the larger tunnel initiative. Proposed by the Bengaluru Traffic Police, the project includes a 2.27-km three-lane twin tunnel from Hebbal Junction to the Karnataka Veterinary University, followed by an elevated corridor up to Mehkri Circle. The Mehkri Circle junction will be redesigned into a rotary interchange integrating multiple flyovers.
Originally estimated at ₹1,325 crore, the project cost has risen to ₹2,215 crore due to additional flyover components. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will execute the project and fund it using its own resources.
