Tata Power's Mundra Megaplant Targets Year-End Restart

Tata Power Company is aiming to resume operations at its Mundra supercritical thermal power plant by 31 December 2025, following its shutdown in July 2025.

The company is currently addressing technical issues and completing essential overhaul work at the imported coal-based facility, which supplies electricity to Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Punjab. The Mundra plant is a key contributor to Tata Power’s performance, accounting for 17.5% of its FY25 revenue of ₹64,502 crore.

In November, reports indicated that Tata Power would sign a supplementary power purchase agreement with the Gujarat government to support the plant’s restart. While the shutdown was initially expected to extend only until 30 November 2025, the company now anticipates restoring operations by year-end.
