The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to invest ₹6,000 crore to strengthen its power infrastructure by establishing 200 new electric substations across the state.
Announcing the initiative in the State Assembly, Energy Minister G. Ravi Kumar said the project aims to address areas experiencing high electricity demand. It includes the construction of 33/11 kV substations in regions facing heavy load conditions to ensure a stable and reliable power supply, while also accommodating future energy requirements.
As part of the plan, two 220 kV substations are being developed in Vizianagaram district with an investment of ₹46 crore.
The initiative is intended to meet the growing electricity demand from industrial, commercial, domestic, and agricultural sectors, ensuring uninterrupted power supply and improved grid reliability across the state in the coming years.
