Andhra Pradesh Bets Big on Quantum: "Quantum Valley" by 2026!

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that a Quantum Computing Centre will be operational in Amaravati by January 1, 2026, as part of the state’s vision to develop a “Quantum Valley” modeled on Silicon Valley. The initiative, backed by IBM, TCS, and L&T, aims to establish Andhra Pradesh as a global hub for quantum computing and artificial intelligence (AI).

Speaking at the Amaravati Quantum Valley Workshop 2025, held in collaboration with industry leaders, Naidu outlined plans to deliver 100 real-world quantum use cases by August 15, 2026. He also emphasized leveraging the state’s strong IT and mathematics talent pool and committed to delivering 100% of government services via WhatsApp.

IT Minister Nara Lokesh announced that Amaravati will host South Asia’s first IBM-2 Quantum Computer with 156 qubits. He also highlighted the need to build a quantum-ready workforce through curriculum upgrades at premier institutions like the IITs.

The initiative was praised by representatives from the Department of Science & Technology (DST), ISRO, and academia, aligning closely with the National Quantum Mission. IBM and TCS reaffirmed their commitment to supporting India’s growing quantum ecosystem.
