ACEN & UPC Break Ground on 540 MW Renewable Hub

ACEN, in collaboration with UPC Renewables, has commenced construction of two large-scale renewable energy projects in India—a 420 MW solar farm in Rajasthan and a 120 MW wind farm in Karnataka. These initiatives mark a significant milestone in the companies' strategic expansion into one of the world’s most dynamic clean energy markets.

Scheduled for completion by early 2027, the projects will collectively generate approximately 1,158 GWh of clean electricity annually—enough to power around 2,41,000 homes and offset over 8,76,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year. The 420 MW solar farm, located in the high-irradiance Barmer region of Rajasthan, is expected to produce 767 GWh annually. The 120 MW wind project in Karnataka is designed to deliver 391 GWh annually, capitalizing on strong monsoonal winds and favorable topography.

In addition to environmental impact, the projects are set to create more than 1,500 green jobs during construction, contributing to local employment and regional economic development.

“These developments reflect our long-term commitment to accelerating India’s clean energy transition,” said a senior ACEN executive. The projects align closely with India’s renewable energy targets and represent a significant addition to ACEN and UPC’s growing international green energy portfolio.
