AmpereHour x IndiGrid: Making Green Energy History in Gujarat

AmpereHour Energy and IndiGrid have commissioned India’s first large-scale standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) in Gujarat, marking a major milestone in the country’s clean energy infrastructure development.

The 180 MW/360 MWh facility has been installed at a substation operated by Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO), with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) serving as the primary off-taker.

According to the companies, the project is among the largest standalone utility-scale battery storage installations in India and one of the biggest in Asia. The development team utilised operational learnings from an earlier 40 MWh battery storage project in Delhi and conducted advanced simulation studies to optimise the electrical network from the 220 kV grid connection to the DC systems.

The project also integrated AmpereHour Energy’s ELINA EMS and AH Suite software platforms to streamline technology integration and contractor coordination during execution.
