The 1x800 MW Ultra Super Critical expansion unit at the Chaudhary Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant (DCRTPP), Yamunanagar, is progressing on schedule, with commissioning planned for March 2029.
Valued at ₹7,272.07 crore, the project is being executed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on an EPC basis. Progress was recently reviewed in a high-level meeting chaired by Sanjeev Kaushal, Chairman of Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL).
Key milestones include:
Curtain wall completion by June 2025
Structural works completion by July 15, 2025
Boiler light-up scheduled for August 2028
The foundation stone, laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14, 2025, marked the official launch of the project.
Land acquisition is underway, with 56 acres identified and 35 acres already secured. For construction needs, BHEL has obtained a 19 kW temporary power connection and applied for an additional 250 kW supply.
