Navinal Transmission Project: A New Era for Renewable Energy

The National Committee on Transmission (NCT) has approved a new interstate transmission system (ISTS) project titled “Transmission system for providing connectivity to RE applicants at Navinal (Mundra) GIS.” The project will be implemented by Navinal Transmission, a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (AESL).

The project entails the development of a 220kV switchyard (bus section-1) and installation of a 1×500 MVA, 400/220kV interconnecting transformer (ICT) at the upcoming Navinal GIS substation in Gujarat. With a projected cost of Rs 105.09 crore and a 24-month execution timeline, the system will facilitate power evacuation from Adani Wind Energy Kutchh Three’s 300 MW wind project at the 220kV level.

Navinal Transmission is already constructing the greenfield 765/400kV, 4×1500 MVA Navinal GIS substation, awarded in October 2024, with commissioning targeted by July 2026. As of 31 July 2025, 70 acres of land have been acquired, foundation works are complete, and civil works have reached 30% completion.

In parallel, AESL is advancing another key project—“Transmission system for supply of power to Green Hydrogen/Ammonia manufacturing potential in Mundra.” This initiative will augment the Navinal substation to support up to 3 GW of green hydrogen-linked demand, aligning with India's clean energy transition goals.
