Vizag's $120 Billion Vision: Naidu's Plan to Power Andhra Pradesh

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has unveiled an ambitious plan to develop the 'Visakha Economic Region' as Andhra Pradesh’s primary growth engine, targeting a $120 billion economy from the region by 2032

In a high-level review meeting, Naidu outlined a vision to transform Visakhapatnam into an economic powerhouse on par with Mumbai within the next seven years. The Visakha Economic Region includes eight key districts: Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, East Godavari, Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR), and Manyam.

The Chief Minister has directed officials to fast-track development initiatives, identify catalytic projects, and earmark one lakh acres of land to facilitate investment and industrialization across the 36,000 sq km region, which is home to 15.5 million people.

With a current GDP of around $49 billion, the region is poised for rapid growth. Naidu projects the creation of 20 to 24 lakh new jobs by 2032, underscoring the region’s role as a key driver of the state’s economic revival.

This strategic initiative aims to capitalize on the region’s geographic advantages, infrastructure, and talent pool to position northern Andhra Pradesh as a major economic hub.
