Chennai's Metro Expansion Accelerates with Downline Trials

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has commenced trial runs on the 'downline' track between Porur Junction and Poonamallee Bypass Metro Stations, marking a key milestone in Corridor 4 of the Phase-2 project.

This follows the earlier initiation of trials on the 'upline' in the same stretch. With both tracks now under testing, CMRL is on track to advance trial operations as scheduled, moving closer to commissioning this vital corridor.

The viaduct spans approximately 10 kilometers and connects directly to the Poonamallee Metro Depot, which will serve as the central hub for all testing and commissioning activities.

The launch of downline trials signals significant progress in expanding Chennai’s metro network, promising improved connectivity and transit options for residents in these fast-growing areas.
