India’s leading power producer, NTPC Ltd, has announced that its total installed generation capacity has reached 80,265 MW, marking a significant milestone in its energy portfolio. This achievement follows the commencement of commercial operations of a 110.25 MW segment of the 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project by NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd.
In a regulatory filing, NTPC confirmed that this portion of the Khavda-I project was declared commercially operational as of midnight on June 6, 2025. The Khavda solar installation, located in Gujarat, is poised to become one of the world’s largest single-location solar power projects upon completion.
This commissioning highlights NTPC's strategic shift towards renewable energy and reinforces its commitment to India’s clean energy transition. The addition of this solar capacity strengthens the nation’s renewable energy mix and supports NTPC’s leadership role in driving sustainable and diversified power generation.
