The Maharashtra government has initiated the process to develop a new IT Park in Purandar taluka, located near the upcoming Pune International Airport and logistics hub, with the aim of easing congestion at Hinjewadi IT Park.
Industries Minister Uday Samant has directed officials to commence land acquisition, with the Industries Department formally requesting the Revenue Department to transfer 1,500 acres of government-owned land in the villages of Dive, Chambali, and Kodit.
Confirming the move, Shiv Sena MLA Vijay Shivthare stated:
"The state has approved the IT Park at Purandar and directed the transfer of government land. This project will significantly boost infrastructure in the region and ease the traffic burden on Hinjewadi."
Although some parcels were initially deemed unsuitable, officials have now cleared the identified land. Since the land is already government-owned, the acquisition process is expected to proceed smoothly.
With Hinjewadi nearing saturation and facing infrastructure limitations, the state envisions the new IT Park as a key driver to strengthen Pune’s IT ecosystem, retain existing firms, and attract new investment to the region.
