Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has laid the foundation stone for a ₹260-crore project to expand and develop the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Amaravati, located at Venkatapalem.
The project will be executed in two phases and is envisioned to transform the temple into a prominent spiritual and architectural landmark for the state. The Chief Minister has urged the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) to complete construction within two and a half years.
The first phase, estimated at ₹140 crore, will include the construction of the temple prakaram, a seven-storey Raja Gopuram, the Arjitha Seva Mandapam, the Mirror Hall (Addala Mandapam), Vahana and Ratha Mandapams, the Anjaneya Swamy Temple, a Pushkarini, and cut-stone flooring.
The second phase, costing ₹120 crore, will focus on developing Mada streets, approach roads, an Annadanam complex, pilgrim rest houses, residential quarters for priests and staff, an administrative building, a meditation hall, and parking facilities.
Earlier, the TDP government had allocated 25.417 acres of land for the temple project, but the scope was later reduced by the succeeding administration. After returning to power last year, the TDP-led NDA government has revived and accelerated the project.
