The Union government has approved a ₹282-crore infrastructure upgrade along the Gurugram–Kotputli–Jaipur stretch of National Highway 48, with Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways & Corporate Affairs, Harsh Malhotra, laying the foundation stone.
The project includes the construction of four flyovers at Panchgaon Chowk, Rathiwas, near Hero Company, and Sahlawas, along with nine foot overbridges (FOBs) at Shikhopur, Manesar, Binola, Rathiwas, Malpura, Jaisinghpurkhera, Sidhrawali, Kharkhara, and Khijuri. Targeting accident-prone stretches, these enhancements aim to improve road safety, ease traffic congestion, and form part of a broader infrastructure development program exceeding ₹80,000 crore in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Minister Malhotra highlighted the rapid expansion of India’s national highway network, which has grown from 91,000 km in 2014 to over 1.46 lakh km, making it the second-largest in the world. He also noted a significant rise in high-speed corridors—from 93 km to 2,474 km—and record construction speeds of 34 km per day, underscoring the government’s focus on enhanced connectivity, safety, and infrastructure modernization.
