New Dawn for Healthcare: Assam's Neotia Bhagirathi Centre Opens

On June 5, 2025, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the 100-bed Neotia Bhagirathi Woman and Childcare Centre in Guwahati, marking a significant advancement in women and child healthcare in the Northeast. Located in Jayanagar on Tripura Road, the centre is the first healthcare facility by Ambuja Neotia Healthcare Venture outside West Bengal and the first of its kind in the region.

Harshvardhan Neotia, Chairman of the Ambuja Neotia Group, hailed the inauguration as a "significant milestone" in their expansion efforts. Executive Director Parthiv Neotia reaffirmed the group’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare in underserved areas.

In his address, CM Sarma highlighted the centre’s role in bringing advanced clinical care, state-of-the-art technology, and specialised services to Assam and neighbouring states. The super-speciality hospital will offer comprehensive care in obstetrics, gynaecology, neonatology, infertility treatment, and paediatrics. Outpatient services commenced the same day. The CM also announced plans to expand bed capacity at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital to 5,000.
