At a meeting chaired by DS Dhesi, Principal Advisor for Urban Development, the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) and the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) were directed to fast-track approvals for a long-pending drinking water supply project in Sohna’s newly developed residential areas.
A GMDA official confirmed that both HSVP and PHED have been instructed to secure necessary clearances for supplying water to HSVP-developed sectors and private licensed colonies. Licences have already been issued for 1,310 acres, with several colonies now occupied. The current water demand is 19 MLD, expected to rise to 23 MLD by 2027 and 34 MLD by 2031.
To meet this demand, HSVP has proposed two solutions: expanding the PHED Ghamroj water treatment plant from 27 to 34 MLD, or sourcing water through the upcoming Mewat Feeder Canal. As an interim measure, 6.5 MLD can be diverted from Roj-Ka-Meo, and land has been earmarked for a boosting station.
“Providing water to Sohna residents is a top priority,” said Administrator Vaishali Singh.
