Delhi is set to develop India’s first E-Waste Eco Park in Holambi Kalan through a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Spanning 11.4 acres, the facility will be built under a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) framework, with a concession period of 15 years.
The Delhi State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) will issue a global tender to attract top international green technology firms for this landmark project, announced Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa. Designed to process up to 51,000 tonnes of e-waste annually, the park will cover all 106 categories under the E-Waste Management Rules, 2022.
Key features will include recycling and dismantling zones, refurbishing units, a second-hand electronics market, plastic recovery systems, and skill development centres aimed at upskilling workers from the informal sector.
The project is expected to generate over ₹350 crore in revenue and create more than 1,000 green jobs. With India producing over 1.6 million tonnes of e-waste each year—9.5% of which comes from Delhi—the park is projected to handle up to 25% of the capital’s e-waste within five years. “The era of irresponsible dumping is over,” said Sirsa.
