Maruti Suzuki India and Suzuki Motor Corporation have jointly announced the establishment of the Osamu Suzuki Centre of Excellence (OSCOE) in India, in memory of the late Osamu Suzuki, former Chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation, who passed away in 2024 in Japan. The announcement was made during a remembrance event held at Yashobhoomi, Delhi, on April 23, 2025.
The OSCOE will be set up across Gujarat and Haryana, with a vision to advance high-quality manufacturing in India. As stated in the official press release, the centre will honour Osamu Suzuki’s legacy and his contributions to nation-building by promoting the manufacturing philosophy that was instrumental in Maruti Suzuki’s success.
Osamu Suzuki was a pivotal figure in transforming India’s automotive industry, bringing in Japanese manufacturing methodologies that greatly enhanced production standards. The OSCOE will carry forward these practices by elevating quality standards among component manufacturers and strengthening India’s supply chain capabilities to meet global benchmarks.
More than just a manufacturing hub, the OSCOE will also serve as a platform for academic and industry collaboration. It will host formal education programs, lectures, discussions, and seminars focused on the Japanese principles of manufacturing excellence, ensuring the continued growth and evolution of India’s industrial landscape.
