Wabag Secures ₹380 Cr. Bengaluru Water Deal

VA Tech Wabag has secured a ₹380 crore Design, Build, Operate (DBO) contract from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), under a World Bank-supported initiative to strengthen Bengaluru's water infrastructure and sustainability.

The project involves the engineering, construction, and commissioning of advanced Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs) at four locations in Bommanahalli, as part of the Karnataka Water Security and Disaster Resilience Program. Key components include tertiary treatment facilities, biogas generation through anaerobic digestion, solar sludge drying beds, and intermediate pumping stations.

Slated for completion within 30 months, the project also includes 10 years of operations and maintenance. The WWTPs are designed to enable the industrial reuse of tertiary-treated water, significantly reducing freshwater demand and enhancing water security in the region.

In line with green energy goals, the project will use biogas generated on-site to power plant operations—lowering energy dependency and supporting broader sustainability targets.
