Underground Upgrade: DMRC Launches New Central Vista Corridor

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has officially broken ground at the Central Secretariat Metro Station, marking a major milestone for the Central Vista Corridor under the Delhi Metro Phase V(A) expansion. This launch jumpstarts the Magenta Line’s extension from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg. The project was inaugurated by Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Power, Manohar Lal Khattar, alongside senior ministry and DMRC officials.

Once completed, Central Secretariat will transform into a massive triple-interchange hub, seamlessly linking the new Magenta Line extension with the existing Yellow and Violet Lines. This upgrade will drastically cut commute times to Lutyens’ Delhi and central government offices.

Spanning 9.913 km, the fully underground Central Vista Corridor will feature nine strategic stations: Shivaji Stadium, Yuge Yugeen Bharat, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhawan, India Gate, War Memorial–High Court, Baroda House, Bharat Mandapam, and Indraprastha. Designed to boost network efficiency, the corridor will provide direct, seamless transit to New Delhi's premier administrative, judicial, and cultural landmarks.
