UltraTech Cement plans to expand its grey cement capacity by 29 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) across India by the end of FY27, taking its total domestic capacity to 212.2 MTPA.
According to the company’s latest investor presentation, the expansion will span all five zones—North, Central, East, West, and South—and will involve a mix of greenfield and brownfield projects. In FY26 alone, UltraTech aims to commission 14.1 MTPA of new capacity. Key projects include:
3.3 MTPA grinding unit in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, 2.5 MTPA unit in Patratu, Jharkhand, 1.8 MTPA units each in Shahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh) and Maihar (Madhya Pradesh)
The remaining 14.7 MTPA will be added in FY27 across locations including Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), Bihar, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and others.
Once the expansion is complete, UltraTech will operate 82 manufacturing locations across India. By FY27, the South zone will lead with 59.2 MTPA, followed by the East (42.4 MTPA) and North (42.0 MTPA). The company’s international capacity will remain unchanged at 5.4 MTPA, taking its total global capacity to 217.6 MTPA.
UltraTech expects India’s cement demand to grow 7–8% in FY26, driven by continued momentum in infrastructure projects and rural housing.
