The ₹6,500 Crore Vision: 'New Nagpur' Set to Transform Hingna

On 3rd September 2025, the Maharashtra State Cabinet approved the ambitious ₹6,500-crore ‘New Nagpur’ project, a visionary hi-tech city aimed at transforming Hingna taluka into a prominent commercial and corporate hub.

At the heart of the development will be an International Business and Finance Centre (IBFC), designed to support industries, startups, and corporate offices. The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) will lead the project implementation, with NBCC (India) appointed as project consultant, leveraging its expertise in large-scale urban infrastructure.

The project will span 692.06 hectares across Mouza Godhni (Rithi) and Mouza Ladgaon (Rithi). Of the total ₹6,500 crore investment:

₹3,000 crore is allocated for land acquisition, ₹3,500 crore will fund Phase I development, Funding will be sourced through a HUDCO loan, backed by the state government guarantee

Designated a flagship project, ‘New Nagpur’ will benefit from stamp duty waivers and a host of policy incentives.

The development will feature:

A first-of-its-kind underground utility tunnel system, Smart infrastructure and green urban planning, Single-window clearances to attract global investments and promote entrepreneurship

NMRDA anticipates the project will generate over 5 lakh employment opportunities, significantly boosting the region's economic landscape.
