Commissioner-cum-Secretary Girish SN chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan to assess the progress of mega piped water supply projects across the state, with a focus on accelerating implementation to ensure safe drinking water reaches every rural household.
Officials reported that of the 207 mega water supply projects underway, 30 have been completed, while 55 have crossed 90% progress. The state has set a target to complete all projects by March 2027, covering 32,233 villages. Additionally, 18,411 of the 19,017 single-village schemes have been completed, and 6,146 out of 8,599 solar-powered water supply projects are currently operational, with the remaining expected to be commissioned by June 2026.
The meeting also reviewed progress under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, highlighting the need for close coordination with the central government and strict adherence to maintenance protocols.
To address increased summer demand, authorities have deployed 445 water tankers and established 6,042 water kiosks. Departments were directed to strengthen coordination and promptly resolve technical challenges to ensure timely project completion.
