The Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board (APMB) has signed an agreement with APM Terminals to develop three major ports—Ramayapatnam, Machilipatnam, and Mulapeta—with a total investment of ₹9,000 crore.
Announced on August 21, 2025, in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the partnership aims to position Andhra Pradesh as the “eastern gateway” of India and a leading logistics hub. APM Terminals, a subsidiary of global shipping leader A.P. Moller–Maersk, will develop state-of-the-art terminals and advanced cargo-handling infrastructure across the three ports. The project is expected to generate approximately 10,000 direct jobs.
CM Naidu emphasized the need to build a robust economic ecosystem around the ports, ensure affordable cargo movement for neighboring states, and develop an integrated logistics strategy covering road, rail, inland waterways, and air connectivity. He also reiterated the state’s vision to establish a port or harbour every 50 km along Andhra Pradesh’s 1,000-km coastline.
