Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced the redevelopment of seven ongoing hospital projects into Super Specialty ICU Centres, each dedicated to treating specific critical illnesses.
The hospitals—located in Kirari, Sultanpuri, Sarita Vihar, Shalimar Bagh, Raghubir Nagar, Geeta Colony, and Dilshad Garden—were originally launched during the Covid-19 pandemic to expand the city's healthcare infrastructure. However, many remain incomplete, with some only 50% constructed, due to funding shortfalls, bureaucratic delays, and planning challenges.
Speaking at the inauguration of a private super specialty hospital in Model Town, CM Gupta said, “The government is transforming these incomplete facilities into Super Specialty ICU Centres, each tailored to focus on specific areas such as oncology, organ transplants, and high-risk obstetrics.”
To accelerate progress, the government is also exploring public-private partnership (PPP) models to ensure timely completion and operational efficiency.
