Sri Sathya Sai: Full Speed Ahead on Irrigation Projects!

District Collector A. Shyam Prasad on 03 December 2025 directed officials from the Irrigation Department and the Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) Engineering wing to speed up all ongoing irrigation works in Sri Sathya Sai district, Andhra Pradesh.

During a review meeting at the Collectorate, he sought comprehensive updates on water levels in minor tanks, progress of current projects, and future filling requirements. The district has 1,186 minor tanks with a combined capacity of 15.32 tmcft, of which 680 tanks currently hold 5.702 tmcft. Under medium irrigation, the Yogi Vemana and Upper Pennar projects have storage levels of 0.8 tmcft and 0.01 tmcft, respectively. The HNSS team reported that 60 of the 183 targeted tanks have been filled, with plans to supply water to additional tanks soon.

The Collector stressed the need to complete these projects promptly to help recharge groundwater and alleviate the district’s severe drought conditions.
