The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) is set to receive a ₹303-crore infrastructure boost as compensation for land handed over to the Telangana government for elevated corridor projects along NH-44 and SH-1.
At a review meeting attended by MLA Sri Ganesh Narayanan, MP Eatala Rajender, and senior officials, SCB CEO D. Madhukar Naik announced that about 170 acres of defence land, including 24 acres belonging to the Cantonment Board, were impacted. The Ministry of Defence has permitted the compensation amount to be utilized directly for local infrastructure development instead of being deposited into the Consolidated Fund of India.
The ₹303-crore allocation will finance three major projects — the installation of a new underground sewerage system and the development of Hasmathpet and Patny nalas under the Strategic Nala Development Plan (SNDP). These projects aim to improve sanitation, drainage, and flood mitigation across the Cantonment area.
Implementation will be carried out by the HMWSSB, GHMC, and HMDA, with the public invited to provide feedback within 30 days before tenders are finalized.
