A proposal to allocate 136 hectares of Maharashtra’s critical tiger corridor for a 400-kV Adani Power transmission line has been recommended by the State Board for Wildlife (SBWL). The power line, running from Raipur to Tiroda, threatens 5,152 trees within a crucial ecological corridor connecting Pench, Kanha, and Indravati tiger reserves. Submitted to the Central government subject to conditions, the project is intended to secure 1,600 MW of thermal power for MSEDCL. The SBWL has also greenlit other developments in protected zones, including infrastructure projects inside the Painganga Wildlife Reserve.
