RVNL Lands Major ₹213 Cr Rail Electrification Project

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from South Central Railway for a major railway electrification project worth ₹213.22 crore.

The project entails the upgradation of Overhead Equipment (OHE) from the current 1x25kV system to a 2x25kV system, covering the Duvvada–Rajahmundry and Samalkot–Kakinada Port sections under the Vijayawada Division. The total stretch spans 195.5 route kilometers (RKM) or 391 track kilometers (TKM).

The scope includes the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the upgraded system, along with associated feeder and earthing enhancements to boost the reliability and load-handling capacity of the electrified network.

This initiative supports Indian Railways’ broader electrification and decarbonization goals, aiming to enhance operational efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and accommodate increased rail traffic. The project is a strategic component of the national effort to modernize railway infrastructure and achieve 100% electrification across the network.
