In a massive boost to India’s energy and petrochemical landscape, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially dedicate the nation's first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex this Saturday. Located at Pachpadra in Balotra, Rajasthan, the state-of-the-art facility boasts a capacity of 9 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
Developed with an investment exceeding ₹79,450 crore, the project is a landmark joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL, 74% stake) and the Government of Rajasthan (26% stake). Operating under HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Ltd (HRRL), this mega-complex is set to significantly scale up India’s refining capacity and drive the domestic production of critical petrochemicals.
